What do I need to do to get started?
All dogs who attend our boarding or daycare programs participate in group play. To make sure group play is a great fit for your pup, we do a complimentary evaluation before enrollment. Schedule it over the phone, or by email after setting up your account at thegooddogspot.com.
What vaccines are required to attend?
All boarding and daycare dogs must have current rabies, bordetella, and distemper vaccines plus a negative fecal test within the last year. We can run fecal tests here if needed. Per CT state law, we also keep each dog's town license on file.
Why are you closed for nap time?
We close daily from 12–1:30 PM on weekdays and 11 AM–3 PM on weekends to kennel each dog, dim the lights, and let them rest. Uninterrupted rest between play sessions matters. No pick-ups or drop-offs during nap time — moving through the building wakes the sleeping beauties.
What does your new dog evaluation look like?
A two-hour, multi-step process. We meet your dog first and let them check out an empty play yard. Then we watch how they react to new dogs through a barrier. Once we find a couple well-matched potential besties, we introduce them one-on-one, then gradually merge them into the group. Last, we check that they settle comfortably in a kennel for nap time. You'll get a full report at pickup.
How is your staff trained?
Every new handler completes a 10-shift training protocol covering Pack Pro group management, dog body language, and our in-house health and safety standards. After that, they work the floor with management and senior handlers alongside them. We also offer continuing education incentives through the Knowing Dogs program and industry seminars — and every employee is First Aid and CPR certified.
Do I need a reservation?
Weekday daycare (Mon–Fri) is drop-in — no reservation needed. Boarding and weekend daycare both require reservations so we can staff the right handler-to-dog ratio and keep every group safe and well-watched.
Do you offer grooming?
We handle bathing and nail trims in-house. For full grooms, haircuts, or heavy de-shedding, we partner with Meaghan at Red Collar Mobile Dog Grooming — she sets up in our parking lot biweekly, so your pup can get groomed while they're here to play for the day.
How do you separate dogs in play?
Two fully climate-controlled indoor play rooms — one for little dogs, one for big dogs — plus five play yards outside to spread out in. Groups are divided primarily by size, then by temperament and play style, and we always keep any orthopedic or senior needs in mind.
